Overview
Adafruit SPI Flash Breakout - W25Q16 adds 16 Mbit / 2 MByte of external non-volatile storage to your microcontroller project. It is a practical option for storing files, bitmaps, fonts, audio clips, logged data, and other project assets when built-in flash is not enough.
This breakout is pre-configured for single-channel SPI operation, making it easy to connect with common Arduino and other MCU boards using CS, MOSI, MISO, and SCK. On-board level shifting and a 3.3V regulator allow safe use with both 3V and 5V logic, which is especially useful when adding external memory to older 5V systems.
The flash chip ships blank and does not include wear-leveling. You can access it as a flat memory space or format it with a filesystem such as littleFS or FAT, depending on your application. This makes it well suited to maker and embedded projects where memory handling is managed in software.
