Overview

The Adafruit SHT31-D Sensirion Temperature & Humidity Sensor Breakout is a precision environmental sensing solution built around the industry-trusted Sensirion SHT31-D sensor. It delivers excellent accuracy of ±2% RH and ±0.3°C, making it ideal for weather stations, HVAC monitoring, indoor air quality systems, data logging, IoT projects, and laboratory applications.

Unlike earlier SHT-series sensors, the SHT31-D features a true I²C interface for simple, reliable communication. It supports two selectable I²C addresses (0x44 or 0x45), allowing you to connect multiple sensors on the same bus. The breakout is fully 3V and 5V logic compatible, so it works seamlessly with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, STM32, and other microcontrollers without additional level shifting.

This version includes a PTFE filter membrane over the sensor element. The filter helps protect the sensing surface from dust and contaminants while still allowing accurate humidity measurements, improving long-term reliability in real-world environments.

Pinout

Pin Function / Notes
VIN Power input (2.5V–5V DC). Power the board at the same voltage as your controller logic (e.g., 5V Arduino → 5V, 3.3V Raspberry Pi → 3.3V).
GND Common ground for power and logic.
SCL I²C clock line. Connect to your microcontroller SCL. Includes a 10K pull-up resistor to VIN.
SDA I²C data line. Connect to your microcontroller SDA. Includes a 10K pull-up resistor to VIN.
STEMMA QT JST-SH 4-pin connectors for solderless I²C connections and daisy-chaining (STEMMA QT / SparkFun Qwiic compatible).
ADR I²C address select. 10K pull-down sets default address to 0x44. Tie to VIN to use 0x45.
RST Hardware reset pin. 10K pull-up keeps the sensor active by default. Pull to GND to reset.
ALR Alert/Interrupt output. Can be configured to signal events/thresholds (see datasheet for alert setup).
