Overview

The MPM3610 5V Buck Converter Breakout is a compact, high-efficiency DC-DC step-down power module designed to deliver a stable 5V output at up to 1.2A from a wide 6V to 21V input range. This wide input voltage capability is what truly sets it apart from most small buck converters, making it ideal for projects powered from batteries, adapters, or automotive and industrial rails.

Built around the MPM3610 switching regulator, the board uses a fully integrated inductor and operates at a 2 MHz fixed-frequency PWM, allowing excellent efficiency (typically 90–95%) in a very small footprint. Compared to linear regulators, this results in significantly lower heat dissipation and improved power efficiency—especially critical for portable and embedded systems.

The breakout is pin-compatible with the popular LM1117-5.0 (TO-220 footprint), allowing it to be used as a drop-in upgrade for existing designs that need better thermal and power performance. An onboard EN (Enable) pin allows the output to be cleanly shut down by pulling it low, enabling simple power control from a microcontroller or logic signal.

Each board comes fully assembled and tested, with header pins included for easy breadboard prototyping. This makes the MPM3610 breakout a reliable and convenient solution for powering 5V logic, microcontrollers, sensors, and peripherals from higher-voltage sources.
