Overview
Adafruit DS2482S-800 8-Channel I2C to 1-Wire Adapter makes it easy to add 1-Wire support to microcontrollers, SBCs, and desktop-connected systems that already have I2C. Built around the DS2482S-800 bridge IC, this STEMMA QT breakout converts I2C commands into 1-Wire communication and exposes 8 selectable 1-Wire channels for neatly separated sensor connections.
This is especially useful for DS18B20 temperature sensing projects. Instead of putting every sensor on a single shared 1-Wire line and identifying them only by ROM ID, you can assign each sensor to a physical channel. That makes installations easier to map, troubleshoot, and maintain even if a sensor is replaced later.
The board includes STEMMA QT connectors compatible with SparkFun Qwiic for quick solderless I2C hookup, adjustable addressing for using multiple boards on the same bus, and built-in pullup support for 1-Wire peripherals. The board can run from 2.9V to 5.5V, and the supplied VIN level is also provided as the power output for connected 1-Wire devices.

Pinout
| Pin | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| VIN | Power input | Supply the board with the same logic voltage as your controller, such as 3.3V or 5V. |
| GND | Ground | Common ground for power and logic. |
| SDA | I2C | I2C data line for communication with the host controller. |
| SCL | I2C | I2C clock line for communication with the host controller. |
| A0 / A1 | Address select | Front-edge address pins used to change the I2C address by tying them high. |
| Channel 0-7 + |
1-Wire power | Power output for each connected 1-Wire peripheral. Shares the same voltage as VIN. |
| Channel 0-7 1W |
1-Wire signal | Data line for the selected 1-Wire device or bus connection. |
| Channel 0-7 - |
Ground | Ground connection for each attached 1-Wire peripheral. |
Why choose this adapter?
If your controller does not offer native 1-Wire support, this board gives you a reliable hardware bridge over I2C. It is a practical choice for multi-point temperature monitoring, modular sensor wiring, and projects where channel-by-channel identification matters more than relying on device ROM codes alone.
Note: The 1-Wire peripheral supply follows the VIN input. Use 3.3V VIN with 3.3V systems and 5V VIN with 5V systems.
