Overview
Adafruit MPU-6050 6-DoF Accelerometer Gyro Sensor is a compact IMU breakout that combines a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope on a single board. With 16-bit measurements over an I2C interface, it is a practical choice for motion sensing, balance detection, orientation tracking, and movement telemetry in robotics and embedded projects.
This breakout is designed to be easy to integrate with both modern maker hardware and traditional breadboard builds. It includes STEMMA QT / Qwiic-compatible JST SH connectors for quick solderless I2C connections, while also providing a standard 0.1" header footprint for direct wiring on perfboard or breadboards.
Adafruit has added the support circuitry needed for reliable use with 3.3V or 5V logic systems, including an onboard regulator that accepts 3-5V DC. It works with Arduino, CircuitPython, Python, and Blinka-supported single-board computers using Adafruit libraries. The board comes fully assembled and tested; a QT cable is not included.
