Adafruit RFM69HCW Transceiver Radio Breakout - 868/915MHz is a sub-GHz packet radio module for makers and embedded developers who need reliable wireless data links without the setup overhead of WiFi or Bluetooth. Based on the SX1231 and interfaced over SPI, it supports software-selectable operation in the 868MHz or 915MHz ISM bands.
This breakout is well suited for Arduino and other microcontroller projects such as remote sensors, telemetry nodes, and small multipoint radio networks. The RFM69HCW handles packetization, error correction, addressing, AES-128 encryption, and auto-retransmit, so building dependable low-bandwidth wireless links is much easier.
The board includes an onboard 3.3V regulator and level shifting, allowing it to work with 3V or 5V logic systems. A simple wire antenna can be soldered directly, or you can fit an optional uFL or SMA connector if your design needs an external antenna.

This radio is designed for small packets of data rather than high-speed streaming. It is a practical choice when you want straightforward long-range wireless communication between microcontrollers without pairing, scanning, or maintaining a persistent connection.
Important: all radios are sold individually, and this module can only communicate with radios of the same part number and matching frequency configuration. For example, an RFM69 900MHz unit cannot communicate with a LoRa module.
Some assembly is required. The included header must be soldered, and the board does not include a built-in antenna. You will need to solder a wire antenna or fit an optional uFL or SMA connector. For a simple quarter-wave wire antenna, the reference guide lists about 8.2cm for 868MHz or 7.8cm for 915MHz.
