Overview

The Adafruit BMP585 Ported I2C/SPI Temperature & Pressure Sensor Breakout brings Bosch’s latest high-precision barometric sensor to your projects, enabling extremely accurate pressure and altitude measurements. Built around the Bosch BMP585, this sensor offers significantly improved precision compared to earlier BMP280 and BMP388 sensors, making it ideal for drones, robotics, weather stations, and environmental monitoring systems.

The BMP585 delivers outstanding sensitivity with altitude resolution as fine as 1 cm (0.08 Pa noise). With ±6 Pa relative pressure accuracy (about ±50 cm altitude) and ±60 Pa absolute accuracy, it allows highly precise altitude tracking for applications such as drone stabilization, indoor navigation, and wearable altitude tracking. It also includes an integrated temperature sensor with ±0.5 °C accuracy, allowing reliable environmental measurements in compact designs.

Integration is straightforward thanks to support for both I2C and SPI communication. Use I2C for quick wiring, or switch to SPI when connecting multiple sensors without address conflicts. The board includes STEMMA QT connectors, fully compatible with SparkFun Qwiic, enabling fast plug-and-play connections and easy sensor chaining without soldering.

Adafruit has also added helpful hardware features for easy deployment. A built-in 3.3 V regulator and logic level shifting allow safe operation with both 3 V and 5 V microcontrollers, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 boards. The ported pressure sensor design allows optional tubing to be attached, making it suitable for applications such as airflow measurements or sealed pressure sensing setups.
